A Richard Brendon bespoke collaboration with Jeremy King
After a departure from the hospitality group that defined dining in London for decades, Britain’s most celebrated restaurateur, Jeremy King, has made a comeback with two new openings in 2024 and another on the way in 2025.
After a departure from the hospitality group that defined dining in London for decades, Britain’s most celebrated restaurateur, Jeremy King, has made a comeback with two new openings in 2024 and another on the way in 2025.
Over the years, King has earned widespread respect and acclaim in the hospitality industry, renowned for his commitment to what Martin Kuczmarski, founder of The Dover in Mayfair, calls “old-school hospitality at the highest level.”
King and Brendon at Arlington
He made a notable return to London’s dining scene with the opening of Arlington in March 2024. Located at 20 Arlington Street in St. James’s, this venue holds historical significance as the former site of Le Caprice, which King co-founded in 1981. Arlington has been described as an “unabashedly sentimental remastering of Le Caprice,” featuring a similar menu and interior that pay homage to its predecessor.
Looking ahead, King is collaborating with The Savoy to reopen Simpson’s in the Strand in 2025. Originally established in 1828 as a coffee house and chess club, Simpson’s evolved into a renowned restaurant and was one of the first in the UK to earn a Michelin star in 1974. The upcoming reopening aims to restore this historic establishment to its former glory.
These ventures underscore King’s enduring influence on London’s culinary landscape, as he continues to blend tradition with contemporary dining experiences.
Richard Brendon is honoured to be the glassware of choice at all three locations, with this bespoke collection crafted exclusively for these restaurants. Vintage Libbey glassware, with its classic conical shapes, has been a key inspiration for the bespoke Jeremy King collection. The American company was founded in 1818 as the New England Glass Company, Libbey glassware made it’s name by producing the finest examples of blown glass; the glass was characterised by its simplicity of line, and careful finish. Richard Brendon revives these traditional forms with a sleek, modern touch, blending contemporary design with time-honoured techniques to create truly timeless tableware.
Taking inspiration from the modernity of the American restaurant scene of New York and blending iconic visuals of American diners, we’ve added a commanding feature, one which offers tactility but also recognition. This design feature subtly incorporates some of the inspiration for The Park.
