Gleneagles and The Rose Compendium

Gleneagles and The Rose Compendium

Gleneagles announce a new menu at The American Bar, The Rose Compendium. This cocktail list brings history to life within the Richard Brendon glassware.

The stunning new menu has drawn inspiration from research conducted by The Royal National Rose Society in the 1800s. This fellowship, composed of passionate botanists, spent countless hours in their potting sheds, pouring over references and meticulously cultivating rare species with an insatiable curiosity—often with one eye on the neighbours.

By tracing the lineage of the rose family to unexpected relatives like quince and cherry, The American Bar’s bartenders delved deep into the history of each of the nineteen drinks, echoing the dedication of the horticulturists who inspired them.

Under the guidance of Michele Mariotti, Head of Bars at Gleneagles, the menu highlights five core ingredients from the rose family—strawberry, apple, quince, almond, and cherry—each showcased in two drinks. One in each pair is locally sourced, using bespoke ingredients from nearby suppliers, while the other celebrates elements from Gleneagles’ own unique ecosystem.

Michele says of the new release, “The Rose Compendium is a true labour of love, blending tradition, creativity, sustainability, and a deep respect for nature. Partnering with local producers has been such a rewarding experience, allowing us to support the incredible craftsmanship in our community while creating something truly special for guests. I am incredibly proud of how this menu reflects Gleneagles’ commitment to eco-conscious practices whilst pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of cocktails.
