INTRODUCING 1821

Inspired by the birth of glassmaking as we know it today, 1821 has been created in partnership with McQueens Flowers to bring you vases designed with both function and beauty at front of mind. Continuing the timeline of history from London, 1650, 1821 is a celebration of Bristolian glassmaker, Henry Ricketts’, revolutionary hinged mould. Patented in 1821, Ricketts created an innovative bottle-mould that allowed glass to be consistently blown to the same size and capacity for the first time. In honour of its namesake, 1821 utilises the same styled moulds today; each vase individually mouth-blown by master craftspeople in Czech Republic to exacting dimensions, creating a five-piece collection enriched with over 200 years of history.

The collection takes on a deep hue of beautifully rich bottle green, mimicking both the ‘Black Glass’ used in glassware across the 17th Century as well as floral stems. This allows blooms on display to pull central focus whilst maintaining a natural look and feel that fully celebrates your floral showpiece. The richly coloured glass also hides any debris that can appear naturally in flower water, making the maintenance of your floral masterpiece exceptionally easy. 

Each vase is the result of a close collaboration with fellow London-based brand, McQueens Flowers; designed to bring ease to building flawless floral displays in your home. 1821 features five varying sizes, from a Bud Vase for elegant tablescapes to larger showstoppers for the mantelpiece. Each vase has been specifically designed with the help of McQueens Flower's expertise to allow even floral novices to build spectacular flower displays. 

Whether for a beautiful tablescape or decoration on the mantelpiece, our trio of Bud Vases are the most adaptable pieces to place in the home and allow for a plethora of floral designs. For more substantial floral displays our Large Presentation Vase and Large Table Vase guarantee a showstopper. Both designed with generous proportions, they are beautiful as standalone pieces for candles or filled with your blooms of choice. 

Our Medium Vase allows for a multitude of occasions and settings, fitting elegantly in smaller spaces whilst also complementing larger ones; allowing for a wide range of creativity and floral creations. Alternatively, our Tall Vase is the perfect solution for taller, slimmer arrangements. From Delphiniums to Sunflowers, our Tall Vase creates a minimalist yet striking focal point in the home. Each piece allows for truly jaw-dropping floral displays with little effort or expertise needed.

Floral displays are, after all, McQueens’ speciality. Their stunning displays are visible at some of the world’s most prestigious hotels, including Corinthia, London in our shared capital. To celebrate the launch of 1821, Corinthia will be dressing their foyer with a special installation incorporating the full collection and stunning seasonal flowers. The unique seal on the front completes the design, featuring an RB monogram providing both a focal point and nod to historic bottles that featured the seals and emblems of their owners. With glass bottles still being a luxury item, these personalised seals ensured owners correctly received their own bottles, now full with wine, spirits and beer, back from suppliers.
